We are the Church of England for the people of Hyde, Abbotts Barton and the city centre of Winchester, England.
Making a Pilgrimage?
St Bartholomew’s Church is the place to begin your Camino Santiago de Compostela if you want to do the minimum 100km distance on foot to receive the official certificate, and it’s the start point for the Winchester to Southampton leg of the Camino Ingles, or St James’ Way.
We love to welcome pilgrims personally, but please note that the church is currently open only on Saturday mornings 10am-1pm. If you would like a pilgrim stamp outside these hours we will do our best to accommodate you, but please contact us via the form below, at least a week in advance. Stickers are available in the porch.

Coming Up…
Don’t miss the King Alfred Weekend, our annual commemoration of the legacy and influence of Alfred the Great, 23rd-25th October, in conjunction with Hyde900. Please join us for a concert by Index Cantorum, the King Alfred Lecture, and a special commemorative service in the presence of the Mayor of Winchester, followed by the laying of flowers at the grave sites in Hyde Abbey Gardens.
You are welcome here! We gather to worship and pray at services in all three churches every week, and will be glad to talk if you are considering a baptism or wedding, or need to plan a funeral. Our Little Wrigglers baby & toddler group meets at St Bartholomew’s Church every Wednesday in term-time at 10am.
We hold various social events and all are welcome to our coffee mornings: 10am at St Lawrence on the first Friday of every month, and 10.30am at St Bartholomew on the third Saturday.
